Ownership of Understanding
In modern times increasingly defined by AI, a critical question arises: who owns understanding?
With tools capable of generating complex code, writing essays, and synthesizing vast amounts of information, it is deeply tempting to outsource the cognitive effort of learning and comprehension. However, true understanding cannot—and should not—be outsourced.
Instead, we must view these AI systems as tools to amplify our understanding. They are powerful instruments for exploration, allowing us to dive deeper into technical concepts, move faster through boilerplate, and rigorously test our assumptions. The goal is not to let the machine think for us, but to use it to build and refine our own mental models more effectively. Ultimately, true ownership of knowledge must remain with the human mind.
